The Morning After

Not kidding: Amy and I walked into Dad's room for the day just in time to hear him say, "I'm as peaceful as a spring evening."

And his voice is so strong this morning!

Heather reports that it was a good night.

Dr. Goldsmith came by a little bit ago and said Dad is doing great - blood work looks good, no transfusion needed.  Impressed that he had such a good night.  Today he'll get out of bed and take a few steps ... In response to that, Dad says "I love a challenge."

Dad wanted all sorts of fruit (and grits!) for breakfast but he's on a liquid diet so is having some mango italian ice instead. For lunch, he can have whatever he likes.

  1. Thank you for sharing this news via the blog. It's such a relief to hear that all has gone so well. Will be sending continued prayers and thoughts your way through the recovery but what a blessing to know this major hurdle is over! St. Margaret's won't seem the same without Mike around so we cannot wait to see him smiling happily in the pews again. Sending love to all,

  2. We were so delighted to wake up this morning and read all the wonderfully positive fed back following Mike's op. You must indeed be a very proud family.
Always our love; can't pop by to visit, but be assured you are all in our thought over the coming weeks. Big hugs Diane. Such a brave step for you both XX
